Job Description

We are looking for a meticulous and proactive Internal Control Officer to contribute to the development and implementation of our client's operational risk and internal control frameworks. You will be instrumental in embedding robust risk management practices, testing control effectiveness, and ensuring that any identified weaknesses are effectively remediated. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in audit, risk, or compliance within the financial services industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Framework Management: Develop, maintain, and integrate the operational risk management framework, including risk appetite, risk assessment, incident reporting, and scenario analysis.
  • Policy Implementation: Implement and embed the operational risk management policy across various local entities.
  • Control Testing & Evaluation: Collaborate with first-line management to maintain the internal control framework, design testing methodologies, and drive the delivery of internal control testing initiatives.
  • Governance & Reporting: Capture test results on a risk management tool and report findings through appropriate governance channels. Oversee the Quarterly Control Evaluation process, including documentation of outcomes and remediation plans.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with risk, compliance, and internal audit teams to ensure cohesive oversight. Participate in internal control community meetings to facilitate communication.
  • Compliance Oversight: Maintain the risk and control tracker to ensure adherence to internal and external audit requirements by local management teams.

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience in audit, finance, or risk management within a regulated financial services environment.
  • A recognised Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Familiarity with the insurance or reinsurance sector is highly advantageous.
  • Understanding of technology, security, and data risks and their corresponding control frameworks (e.g., COBIT, ISF, ISO27001) is a strong plus.
  • Excellent report writing, organisational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to engage effectively with management at all levels.
  • Competence in navigating a matrix organisation efficiently.
  • Knowledge of the Solvency 2 risk framework is preferred but not essential.
