Operating Theatre Assistant supports smooth operation of Day Surgery Centre by maintaining equipment, assisting the surgical team, and ensuring a safe, clean environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be responsive to the surgical team's requests and work collaboratively to provide quality patient care in the operating theatre.
- Assist and support the surgical team in preparing for daily operations.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and ensure strict compliance with safety regulations.
- Operate and troubleshoot all Operating Theatre equipment, providing solutions in the event of breakdowns.
- Contribute to patient safety initiatives and continuous quality improvements.
- Implement and monitor infection control practices to reduce healthcare-associated infections.
- Maintain cleanliness of the OT and surrounding areas, including proper disposal of surgical waste, soiled linen, and suction contents.
- Perform routine checks on operating tables, lights, and other equipment to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Clean and disinfect rooms, instruments, and equipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Assist surgeons intraoperatively, including adjusting lighting and applying tourniquets when required.
- Prepare the operating room for each scheduled procedure.
- Safely assist with the transfer of patients between wards, trolleys, and operating tables.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Management.
Requirements:
- Minimum GCE 'O' Level, or Certificate in Healthcare (Operating Theatres) is an advantage.
- Proactive, responsible, and willing to learn.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Relevant OT experience preferred.
- Physically fit and able to assist in lifting patients and equipment when required.
- Willingness to work shifts, including alternate Saturdays and overtime when required.
