Operating Theatre Assistant supports smooth operation of Day Surgery Centre by maintaining equipment, assisting the surgical team, and ensuring a safe, clean environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be responsive to the surgical team's requests and work collaboratively to provide quality patient care in the operating theatre.
  • Assist and support the surgical team in preparing for daily operations.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and ensure strict compliance with safety regulations.
  • Operate and troubleshoot all Operating Theatre equipment, providing solutions in the event of breakdowns.
  • Contribute to patient safety initiatives and continuous quality improvements.
  • Implement and monitor infection control practices to reduce healthcare-associated infections.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the OT and surrounding areas, including proper disposal of surgical waste, soiled linen, and suction contents.
  • Perform routine checks on operating tables, lights, and other equipment to ensure they are in safe working condition.
  • Clean and disinfect rooms, instruments, and equipment in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assist surgeons intraoperatively, including adjusting lighting and applying tourniquets when required.
  • Prepare the operating room for each scheduled procedure.
  • Safely assist with the transfer of patients between wards, trolleys, and operating tables.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements:

  • Minimum GCE 'O' Level, or Certificate in Healthcare (Operating Theatres) is an advantage.
  • Proactive, responsible, and willing to learn.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Relevant OT experience preferred.
  • Physically fit and able to assist in lifting patients and equipment when required.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including alternate Saturdays and overtime when required.
