Application Engineer

As Application Engineer, you are responsible for interfacing with customers and suppliers to specify and identify Cutting Tool product structures according to customers' needs. Key to this process will be growing margin of the Cutting Tool product group or saving costs for customers by providing product application, technical and commercial support.
What will you deliver?
-Analyse customers' existing methodologies, processes, and applications of metal-working tools and identify effective tooling solutions to drive productivity improvements for existing tooling or new product introduction.
-Source for alternate material sources, suppliers and manufacturers and negotiate pricing to achieve the targeted quality parts and productivity and reduce costs.
-Develop tooling operational steps for customers to achieve the planned productivity improvement targets.
-Set base prices by SKU, set and review pricing matrix discounts in accordance with agreed trading margins.
-Provide effective consultancy and product and technical training to internal teams and customers.
-Provide technical support to customers through troubleshooting of issues and working with suppliers for resolution
-Provide updated local market requirements and competitive market intelligence to internal teams.
-Support Vallen's new business development with relevant expertise.
-Ensure world class customer service is achieved.
-Ensure compliance with Vallen's sourcing policies and procedures.
Key Qualifications
-Diploma or Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Precision or related discipline.
-Profound knowledge in metal working and CNC cutting tool applications
-Good customer service skills
-Good analytical and problem-solving skills
-Effective communication skills
-Good team player with the ability to work effectively under deadlines
-Experience in vendor/suppliers' management
-Experience in Cutting Tools and of relevant supply network.
-Understanding of financial concepts such as EBIT and working capital is a plus.
-Expertise in the application of precision work-holding and tool-holding solutions
