Job DescriptionWe are seeking a solid Unix Administrator with strong VMware experience to join our environment build team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of Unix systems and virtualized servers on VMware. This role requires deep technical knowledge of Unix/Linux systems, hands-on experience with VMware technologies, and familiarity with enterprise infrastructure tools and standards.
Job Description - Grade SpecificKey Responsibilities
• Install, configure, and maintain Unix/Linux servers (RHEL).
• Manage, provision and support VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter.
• Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
• Implement and maintain system security, patching, and compliance in line with CIS benchmarks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues, including application-to-database connectivity problems.
• File system and storage management, Manage disk partitioning and logical volume management (LVM), including resizing and splitting mount points.
• Automate routine tasks using shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python) or configuration management tools.
• Maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures for Unix and VMware systems.
• Collaborate with application teams to support deployments, upgrades, and system migrations.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, etc.).
• Experience with storage systems (SAN/NAS) and backup solutions.
• Familiarity with ITIL practices and change management processes.
Preferred Qualifications
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification.
• Linux Administration Certification (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Linux+).
