Overview

  • Performs various basic Patient Care activities in the patient care areas such as Reception, Waiting Area and Examination Rooms in Radiology.
  • Assist Radiographer and Radiologist in Radiological Procedures, and looking into the general welfare of patients.
  • To perform administrative duties

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction and assist patients with general hygiene and personal care activities e.g. changing of patient's clothing
  • Prepare and assist nurses/ doctors in procedures such as dressing, post procedure care, and etc.
  • Assist doctors or radiographers in examination rooms, e.g. transferring patient onto examination couch, act as chaperon, preparing patient for radiological procedures, post care instruction, post-care cleaning, etc.
  • Monitoring patient's traffic as and when is needed
  • Assist in patient scheduling and coordination of worklist for radiographer in the assigned working section
  • Able to use ePorter to request for portering service and assist in transferring/ portering patient, to and from the Radiology
  • Send urgent Biopsy specimens to the Lab when necessary.
  • Accompany patient's relatives to other service units when required
  • Process and duplicate all types of X-ray films and electronic mediums for the Duplication requested by patient/ doctor.
  • Assist the radiographer in data entry into Worklist, Radiology Information System or Hospital Information System
  • Assist radiographer in digitising/processing the Computed Radiography (CR) cassettes in General X-Ray room.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the assigned examination room
  • Well verse with Infection control measures in Radiology
  • Perform QC for Radiological equipment independently.
  • Inform Radiographer in charge if there is any discrepancy in the equipment performance.
  • Participate in quality assurance program as directed by supervisors
  • Competent & familiar at each station's workflow and process
  • To assist the radiographers in the procedure room
  • To be trained in specialised imaging modalities such as CT, US, MRI, PACS, IR etc
  • Play a supporting role in specialised imaging modalities under the guidance of the specialised radiographer
  • Responsibility in direct patient care in the specialised procedure rooms, e.g patient' s preparation, infection control, co-ordination between the radiographer/others to ensure the seamless workflow, monitoring patient's well being  post -procedure care, etc.
  • Perform the dispatch service to the referral clinics and ensure the reports are sent in a timely manner
  • Assist Radiographer in transporting the Portable X-Ray equipment to other department
  • To do simple data collection at regular intervals for monitoring and management reporting and churn out simple statistical data
  • Know how to assign cases to specific reporting doctor
  • To oversee the team roster being deployed correctly and meet the operation needs
  • To ensure all the audit files (induction file /yearly competency/other competency files) are up to date before the audit.
  • Participate in continuous medical education, CPE session, BCLS certification is preferred
  • Plan and conduct on the job training (OJT) for Radiography Assistant/Radiography Technician
  • Assist in identify in training needs of radiography assistants
  • To undertake other ad-hoc projects/tasks as assigned by supervisor, RO, manager or HOD.

Requirements

  • Minimum O level qualification, with minimum 5 years healthcare experience OR
  • Minimum Diploma level with 2 years healthcare experience OR
  • Overseas radiography professional qualification or equivalent with related healthcare experience
