NIE invites suitable candidates to join the Division of Academic Computing & Information Services (ACIS) as an Analyst Programmer/Systems Analyst (2-year contract).
This role drives the implementation of NIE's Automation Empowerment Programme, a flagship initiative under the Technology Roadmap for the Future of Education (TRFE) ) . As a key enabler of NIE's strategic vision, you will architect and deliver AI-driven automation solutions that enhance institutional productivity, streamline complex workflows, and accelerate digital transformation across education and research functions.
The candidate should be a dynamic IT professional who is a good team player and a strong software developer.
Job Description
As a member of the Digital Solutions department, your responsibilities include:
- AI-Driven Automation Development: Design, develop, and deploy automation workflows using low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Power Automate, n8n) and custom scripts (e.g., Python, JavaScript). Leverage AI technologies (e.g., LLMs, document intelligence) to enable intelligent decisioning, unstructured data handling, and autonomous processes.
- Technical Project Management: Lead the implementation of digital automation initiatives by managing project scopes, timelines, technical specifications, and cross-functional stakeholder coordination. Apply agile delivery methods and iterative prototyping to ensure velocity and value.
- Operational Support: Providing day-to-day assistance to teams utilising digital tools effectively and addressing technical challenges during project execution.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Engaging with other departments to facilitate collaboration and ensure project requirements are understood and met.
- Development Work: Supporting the design, configuration, and development of automation workflows using low-code/no-code platforms or scripting tools. This includes creating prototypes, iterating on feedback, and maintaining automation scripts or logic to ensure sustainable and efficient deployment.
- System Maintenance & Support: Provide ongoing maintenance and support, troubleshooting issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring data integrity and security within systems.
- Compliance & Security: Ensuring that applications adhere to Data Governance policies, IT audit standards, and security requirements, including conducting Vulnerability Assessments and supporting Penetration Testing activities.
Requirements:
- A University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in process automation, software development or a related field.
- Fresh graduates with a keen interest in AI-assisted development and automation technologies are welcome to apply and will be given on the job training.
- Working knowledge of Project Management and ability to manage IT projects independently.
- Quick learner who is passionate and willing to learn new languages and technologies.
- Good self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and flexibility in adapting to changes.
- Ability to work with tight deadlines and fluid requirements.
- Experience in end-to-end application development life cycle and Agile software development methodology.
- Proven experience in building and implementing solutions using scripting languages (e.g. Python), or other automation technologies.
- Robust knowledge of low-code Microsoft Power Platform and Outsystems.
- Knowledge of AI-assisted coding such as GitHub Copilot or agentic coding frameworks.
- Relevant experience with databases such as Oracle, Postgres.
- Experience in automating processes using tools like n8n and Manus AI, incorporating AI capabilities for intelligent task execution.
Possessing the following skillsets will give the applicant an added advantage:
Experience in AI tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, AI Builder, Azure AI services, Dify)
- Experience in Data Visualization (e.g. Power BI)
- Experience in software integration with APIs
- Experience in Microservice Architecture, Vuejs, .Net Core
