About This Role
Join HeritageSG (HSG) as a curator and play a pivotal role in bringing story to life. You'll lead exhibitions, festivals, and digital projects that connect diverse audiences with narratives across various themes and regions. From conceptualising client galleries to developing heritage trails, you'll work where expertise meets creativity to engage diverse audiences.
What You'll Do
Your primary focus will be managing HSG's Business Development Gallery Consultancy pipeline, delivering client projects across exhibitions, galleries, festivals and placemaking, heritage trails, digital interactives, archaeology, and publications. You'll lead curation projects from initial brief through to successful delivery, crafting engaging narratives that make content accessible to all audiences. You may be rotated to other HSG programming, festivals, and exhibitions based on organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Exhibition Development : Curate client galleries and special exhibitions, translating vision into compelling curatorial frameworks and content strategies
- Research & Content Creation : Conduct in-depth research on Singapore and Southeast Asian material culture, social history, and contemporary practice to develop authentic narratives
- Stakeholder Collaboration : Work with diverse teams including conservators, designers, educators, and community groups to deliver projects on time and within budget
- Project Management and Governance : Oversee all aspects of project delivery including IP clearance, provenance checks, vendor coordination, quality assurance and compliance with NHB and HeritageSG policies, Charities and IPC rules, and IRAS requirements
- Strategic Support : Contribute across HeritageSG's portfolio including publications, digital interactives, heritage trails, festivals, and educational programmes
- Community Engagement : Build relationships with donors, lenders, and communities to co-develop inclusive content and programmes
The Ideal Profile
- A degree in art or design history, history, museum studies, or a related field is required
- Strong knowledge of 20th to 21st century Singapore and Southeast Asia is preferred.
- Strong research, writing, and editing in English are required; an Asian language proficiency is a plus
- 5-8 years in a museum, gallery, or heritage environments with proven exhibition delivery experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, timelines, and budgets
- Experience working with diverse groups including donors, clients, partners, and community organisations
- Experience with public sector procurement processes and understanding of GST treatment is advantageous
