Singapore Art Museum opened in 1996 as the first art museum in Singapore. Also known as SAM, we present contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective for artists, art lovers and the art curious in multiple venues across the island, including a new venue in the historic port area of Tanjong Pagar.

SAM is building one of the world's most important public collections of Southeast Asian contemporary art, with the aim of connecting the art and the artists to the public and future generations through exhibitions and programmes. SAM is working towards a humane and sustainable future by committing to responsible practices within its processes.

DESIGNATION : Assistant Curator (Design and Art) (Contract)

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research and contribute to scholarship on present-day contemporary visual art and design globally, with a focus on practices in Singapore, Southeast Asia and Asia, so as to support institutional policies and goals on collection building, presentation and programming.
- Work with Curator to develop research and writing on transdisciplinary practices at the intersection of contemporary visual art and design, in Singapore and internationally.
- Coordinate and produce content, programming, and exhibitions related to the above research.
- Liaise with external and internal parties, including artists, curators, designers, writers, exhibition vendors, museum staff and stakeholders from related departments and agencies.
- Foster professional networks with contemporary artists, design communities, and partners.
- Schedule, plan, and execute related programmes such as lectures, talks, and workshops, as well as prepare content for collaterals such as website and publicity materials.
- Manage, supervise, and administer projects, processes, and procedures under his/her responsibility, including budget tracking and reporting in a timely and accurate manner, improving workflows and processes as needed.
- Handle ad-hoc assignments as and when required.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A graduate degree in contemporary art, art history, design, visual cultures, or related fields, or a degree with at least five years of work experience in visual arts and/or design
- Relevant research and experience in curation, collections and exhibitions preferred
- Keen interest in and knowledge of contemporary art and design practices locally, regionally, and globally
- Excellent research, writing, communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English. Additional language abilities would be ideal
- Motivated and team-oriented
- Good project management and organisational skills
- Attentive to details and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
