The Regional Head of Medical Strategy, Performance, and Operations plays a central role in enabling the successful planning, execution, and delivery of medical operations in line with GSK's strategic priorities. This role is critical to achieving International Medical's ambition of optimizing operational effectiveness and delivering significant value to stakeholders and customers.

Position Summary

Reporting to the VP & Head of Medical Affairs, International, the Regional Head of Medical Strategy, Performance, and Operations provides overall business leadership, project management, facilitation, and fiscal discipline to organizational management, financial management, capability development, and strategic direction for the International Medical organization.

This role requires a strategic leader who can drive operational effectiveness, coordinate cross-functional initiatives, and foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Ensure International Medical Affairs plans, delivers, and executes medical operations in alignment with strategic priorities under the guidance of the VP & Head of Medical Affairs, International.

  • Implementation and Oversight: Execute the CPO organization's operating model, including strategic medical priorities, capability development, business planning, external engagement, and KPI management, while partnering with cross-functional and matrix stakeholders.

  • Facilitation and Improvement: Coordinate the International Medical Leadership Team (IMLT), ensuring alignment with organizational goals and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Strategic Projects: Collaborate with the VP & Head of Medical Affairs, Regional Therapy Area (TA) Heads, and Country Medical Directors (CMDs) to develop and implement strategic regional projects that enhance performance and operational effectiveness.

  • Commercial Collaboration: Strengthen collaboration between Commercial and CPO teams, facilitating strategies and tactics that enable LOC medical teams to deliver exceptional value to customers, stakeholders, and patients.

  • Organizational Pulse: Provide coaching and counselling to the IMLT on change management needs and key organizational initiatives.

  • Capability Development: Partner with the CPO Capabilities and GPS teams to design and implement medical capability-building and certification programs.

  • Talent Management: Work with HR to execute medical talent planning and development activities, enhance the talent pipeline, promote inclusion and diversity, and support career development.

  • Global Alignment: Drive alignment of regional medical operations with Global Medical priorities, representing International Medical's best practices and leveraging global resources.

  • Performance Metrics: Provide and analyze metrics to support business decisions and enhance performance, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.

Qualifications/Skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in medical, pharmaceutical, business, or related fields.

  • Minimum of 7–10 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or medical industry, emphasizing leadership, strategic planning, and operational excellence.

  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and collaborate effectively with cross-functional and matrix stakeholders.

  • Evidence of alignment to GSK values and demonstrated ability to act as a role model for teams and peers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in medical, pharmaceutical, business, or related fields.

  • Strong influencing skills, with the ability to navigate complexity and lead without authority in a matrixed environment.

  • Experience in organizational development and change management, focusing on continuous improvement and high performance.

  • Expertise in medical affairs, including external engagement, KPI management, and strategic medical priorities.

  • Robust knowledge of regulatory, market access, and reimbursement requirements, with an understanding of drug development processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate evidence generation needs and assess clinical and value evidence strategies.

  • Track record of building and managing strong internal and external networks.

Work Arrangement

This role requires on-site presence with occasional travel across the International region.
