The Service Technician is a hands-on technical role responsible for executing routine maintenance, performing basic troubleshooting, and supporting equipment installations under the guidance of Service Engineers. This position focuses on following established procedures, ensuring equipment reliability, and providing on-site support to customers.

This role is ideal for candidates with ITE/vocational qualifications or relevant technical work experience who wish to build a strong foundation in field service and progress into engineering roles over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance - Carry out scheduled maintenance on equipment and systems according to standard operating procedures and maintenance checklists to ensure optimal performance and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and repairs
    - Diagnose and repair common hardware and equipment issues, replacing parts where required, and escalate complex technical problems to Service Engineers with clear documentation of findings.
  • Support equipment installations
    - Assist Service Engineers during installations by handling equipment setup, mounting, cabling, basic configuration, site preparation, and functional checks under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation
    - Complete service reports, maintenance logs, and equipment records accurately and submit them within required timelines in line with departmental SOPs.
  • Deliver basic customer support on-site
    - Interact professionally with customers, provide status updates on jobs, respond to simple enquiries regarding equipment use or service activities, and represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ensure safety and compliance
    - Follow all safety procedures, use tools and equipment correctly, and comply with company and customer site safety regulations.

Requirements

  1. Education & Experience


• ITE/NITEC / Higher NITEC in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related technical field; OR


• Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience in technical service, maintenance, installation, or repair roles


• Fresh ITE/Higher NITEC graduates with strong technical aptitude are welcome to apply

• Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, or IT systems


• Ability to use hand tools, measurement instruments, and basic diagnostic equipment


• Able to follow technical manuals, diagrams, and work instructions


• Basic computer skills for accessing documentation and submitting service reports
