Key Responsibilities

As a Commis Chef or Kitchen Assistant, you will be part of the heart of our kitchen operations. Your role will include, but is not limited to:

  • Oversee daily kitchen and back-of-house operations
  • Prepare and execute all menu items with care and consistency
  • Maintain high standards for food quality, quantity, and presentation
  • Ensure all kitchen SOPs and checklists are properly followed
  • Comply with SFA regulations and hygiene requirements
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety throughout the kitchen at all times
  • Schedule and carry out regular cleaning and maintenance of kitchen areas and equipment
  • Monitor team hygiene, grooming, and uniform standards
  • Identify and report issues to the Head Chef and work collaboratively to resolve them
  • Ensure adequate stock of all food items and update inventory accurately
  • Assist in costing, stock takes, and pricing updates in the inventory system
  • Evaluate food quality to ensure standards are met consistently
  • Plan and organise daily kitchen operations efficiently
  • Foster a positive working relationship with fellow kitchen and front-of-house staff
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements
  • Minimum culinary certificate or equivalent with at least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Able to work 6 days a week, including weekends & public holidays
  • Strong multitasking skills and ability to perform under pressure
  • Good knowledge of back-of-house systems, inventory, and ordering
  • Familiarity with food hygiene and safety standards
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Team player with a proactive and positive attitude
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • Fair and patient problem-solving abilities
  • Punctual and well-disciplined
  • Able to converse effectively in English with a diverse team
