Senior Technician/Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer or Senior Technician to serve as our BCA Approved Person for mechanical works related to gas delivery system installations in semiconductor facilities. This critical role ensures compliance with Singapore's Building and Construction Authority (BCA) regulations while overseeing the technical aspects of high-purity gas piping systems installation and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
BCA Compliance & Regulatory

• Act as the designated BCA Approved Person for mechanical works under the Building Control Act
• Ensure all gas delivery system installations comply with BCA regulations and Singapore Standards
• Review and approve mechanical drawings, specifications, and installation procedures
• Submit required documentation and applications to BCA for mechanical works approval
• Conduct statutory inspections and obtain necessary permits and certifications
• Liaise with BCA officers, consultants, and regulatory bodies as required
• Maintain current knowledge of BCA regulations, codes, and industry standards

Technical Design & Engineering

• Design and specify gas delivery systems for semiconductor manufacturing applications
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications
• Conduct engineering calculations for pressure, flow rates, and system sizing
• Select appropriate materials, components, and equipment for high-purity gas applications
• Review vendor drawings and equipment specifications for compliance
• Perform system integration planning and coordination with other building services

Project Management & Supervision

• Oversee installation of gas delivery systems from design through commissioning
• Supervise installation teams and ensure work quality meets specifications
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, and other trades on-site
• Monitor project schedules and ensure timely completion of mechanical works
• Conduct pre-commissioning inspections and system testing
• Resolve technical issues and provide engineering solutions during installation

Quality Assurance & Safety

• Implement quality control procedures for gas system installations
• Conduct system pressure testing, leak testing, and performance verification
• Ensure compliance with safety standards including WSH regulations
• Review and approve method statements and risk assessments
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and certifications
• Support incident investigation and corrective action implementation

Required Qualifications
Education & Professional Standing

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from recognized institution, OR
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 8 years relevant experience
• Registration as Professional Engineer (PE) with PEB Singapore preferred
• Valid BCA Approved Person certification for mechanical works

Experience & Technical Knowledge

• Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical building services or industrial piping systems
• Experience with gas delivery systems, process piping, or similar applications preferred
• Knowledge of Singapore Standards (SS), BCA codes, and building regulations
• Understanding of semiconductor industry requirements and cleanroom environments
• Experience with high-purity gas systems and specialized materials (electropolished stainless steel, etc.)

Certifications & Licenses

• BCA Approved Person (Mechanical) certification - MANDATORY
• Professional Engineer registration with PEB Singapore (preferred)
• Valid Safety Officer certification or willingness to obtain
• Relevant gas system certifications (e.g., SEMI standards training) preferred

Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills

• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
• Knowledge of piping design software and calculation tools
• Understanding of pressure vessel codes and piping standards
• Familiarity with gas properties, flow calculations, and system dynamics
• Experience with commissioning procedures and testing protocols
