Role of WSH Coordinator
The Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Coordinator supports the organization's WSH procedures by conducting safety checks to identify cases of non-compliance with organizational procedures and legal WSH requirements. He / She observes daily work practices, gathers feedback from workers, evaluates risks associated with the hazards identified in the workplace and escalates issues that require corrective and preventive actions to be undertaken.
The WSH Coordinator's duties require him/her to work outdoors conducting checks on the various sites, equipment & machinery. The WSH Coordinator must fulfil relevant legal requirements on WSH-related training to undertake the job and specific WSH tasks.
Scope of Services for WSH Coordinator
- Assist in identifying any unsafe condition and unsafe work practice which is carried out on the worksite.
- Assist and recommend implementing reasonably practicable measures to remedy the unsafe condition and unsafe work practice.
- Assist /conduct in investigation on an accident or dangerous occurrence and furnish investigation report, finding and recommend preventive measures, submit to Workplace Safety and Health Officer of the workplace.
- Assist and conduct in-house training, safety event, emergency response drill or other activity for the purpose of promoting the safe work conduct and raise the safety awareness in the workplace.
- To participate in establishment and review risk assessment or safe work practices (if required) in accordance with Workplace Safety and Health Act and Subsidiary legislation
- Assist in establishment, assess and monitoring of permit to work system (PTW) at the workplace in accordance with WSH Legislation.
- Assist or conduct first day at work safety induction course or other safety orientation activity for all personnel who work at the workplace.
- To liaise with the client's representative, external parties, certifying agency and regulatory department e.g., Ministry of Health, Ministry of Manpower, NEA or SCDF pertaining to safety and health, environmental matters (if require).
- Assist in establishment, upkeep of workplace safety and health documentation and records.
- Inspect the workplace to ensure the facilities and equipment are in good working condition and do not pose any potential hazard.
- Attend WSH meetings with the client/main contractor's and co-ordinate with their safety representatives.
- To participate in Workplace Safety and Health Committee and furnish the minutes of every meeting.
- Ensure timely reporting of monthly safety performance as prescribed by the Head of Safety / WSHO
- Function as a Workplace Safety and Health Coordinator as required under the Workplace Safety and Health Act.
- Inspect & audit workplace to ensure compliance with local legislations and clients' requirement.
- Be responsible for any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time as your superior/management deems fit.
Minimum Qualifications/Job Experience:
- Certificate in Advanced Certificate in WSH Level B and/or any relevant Safety Certificates.
- Attended the WSH Coordinator Refresher Course
- Attended the Managing Work-At-Heights (WAH) Certificate
- Confine Space Assessor Certificate is advantage
- Project Safety Management @ SP Group Certificate is advantage
- With at least 2 years of working experience (preferred road works & SP Group project)
- Experience in SP Group and LTA will be an advantage.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Having own transport is preferable
- Positive working attitude
- 6 working days & able to work day/night shift. (Sat 4hrs counted as OT)
