About the Job:
Role overview:
The Avian & Exotics Veterinarian is a full-time, on-site role located in Singapore. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide advanced veterinary care to a variety of exotic species, including birds, reptiles, and small mammals.Their daily responsibilities will include medical examinations, diagnosis, and treatments, as well as the performance of surgical procedures and emergency care.Additionally, the Avian & Exotic Veterinarian will work closely with the rest of the veterinary team to ensure that patients receive the highest level of care and attention.Who will this role report into: Department SpecialistEmployment Type : Full-TimeJob Description:
Attend daily inpatient rounds at start and end of shiftConsultations of avian and exotic patientsPerforming diagnosticsPerform ultrasounds for avian and exotic patientsCreate and recommend treatment plans for avian and exotic patientsUpdate patient information in medical records with the latest findingsand treatmentsOrder diagnostic tests (x rays, blood tests, ultrasounds, endoscopies, CT scans) for their cases when appropriateReview and interpret diagnostic test resultsPrescribe pharmaceuticals based on diagnostic results and physical exam findingsCommunicate with patient owners regarding their care and well-beingProvide updates and discharge summaries to referring veterinariansWork with the emergency and specialty teamsAssist with transfers to the appropriate specialists or departmentsReferring cases back to respective referral clinics where appropriateWorking Hours: Day Shifts, 8am to 8pm, 4 day work week, including Public Holiday and weekend shiftsDesired skills and experience:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalentLicensure to practice veterinary medicine in SingaporeKeen interest in exotic animal medicineResidency training or board certification in exotics is a plus but not necessaryDemonstrated knowledge and experience working with birds, reptiles, and small mammals, including their anatomy, physiology, pathology, and behaviorEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and support staffAdditional Information
