IT Support/Server Engineer

General

• Occasional overtime is required as deemed necessary and reasonable by the School. 

1. To support the network administrator in the following server related tasks:

• Strong knowledge in Microsoft Windows Server Management, installation and support of operating system on various servers, desktop and Microsoft office application (not limited to, but including, File and Print, Web, SQL, CRM and Exchange Server).
• Experience monitoring large scale networks with SCCM or Manage Engine is highly regarded.
• Will accept late hours and weekend work depending on the requirements of certain school events.
• Regular patching and rebooting of servers (flexible to perform out of hours work when required).
• Monitoring of Antivirus Server to ensure latest signatures are downloaded and deployed to clients.
• Knowledge in virtualization, scripting and group policy.
• Migration of servers to new hardware.
• Installation, configuration and monitoring of backups across the server infrastructure.
• Health monitoring of all servers.
• Monitoring and renewal of warranty status on all servers.
• Maintain up to date records of network and server related documentation.
• Perform network file/folder permission change as per requests
• Assist Network Administrator in maintaining school's PABX/VOIP telephone system,  UPSand liaison with the contractor to process change requests in a timely manner. and
• Escalation of issues to the Assistant IT Manager / IT Manager / Director of EBT. 

2. Management and Support of Network Client Environment

• Logging of calls to the Help Desk via Phone and E-Mail.
• Strong Knowledge in windows and Apple environment is preferred
• Follow up with helpdesk tickets
• Ensuring allocated calls are seen through to resolution.
• 1 to 2nd Level support of the teachers and staff with regards to user accounts, email, passwords, file permissions, etc.
• 1 to 2nd Level support of network problem such as faulty cables, rack mounting, patching, wireless access points, SSID's etc.
• Installation and support of various software on staff and student machines.
• Installation of peripherals such as scanners, printers, digital cameras on machines.
• Maintenance of peripherals such as changing toner cartridges, maintenance kits on printers as well as procurement.
• Lending support for the installation and setup of Audio Visual equipment around the school – laptops, projectors, sound systems, Apple products, etc..
• General trouble shooting on the use of Interactive White Boards and projectors in the class room.
• Use imaging products to create and push cloned images out to workstations.
• Support of all IT equipment in the classroom, installation of applications and troubleshooting of any related issues.
• Escalation of issues to the Assistant IT Manager / IT Manager/ EBT Director.
  
  

3. Project and Technical Development

• To support the Assistant IT Manager in product solution evaluation, technical research, testing, consultation with solution providers, project management and formulation of client usage policies & good practices.
• Keep abreast of current PC, laptops, peripherals and relevant software developments and technologies.
• Provide advice to ICT and Tanglin User community.
