Singapore Life Community Services Society Full time $40,000 - $60,000 per year

Established since 1996, Life Community Services Society is faith-based, mid-sized social service agency serving children & youth from low-resourced, vulnerable and at-risk backgrounds. We are seeking a dynamic and progressive team player who is conscientious, service-oriented, and passionate about people development and empowering children from vulnerable backgrounds to have a fair chance at succeeding in life through child-centred mentoring. In this role, you will work with our children and families, as well as relevant stakeholders like volunteer mentors and partner organisations, to provide holistic support. Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Be an advocate for child-centred mentoring
  • Recruit, screen, select, train, match and support volunteer mentors to provide mentoring support to children, and light-touch support to parents as a family friend
  • Outreach to ComLink+ families, schools, and existing Life Community programmes
  • Co-developing weekly programme curriculum, to support mentors in building relationships and enabling positive learning experiences for children aged 6 to 13, based on their assessed needs
  • Ensure the smooth running of mentoring sessions, including facilitation of group sessions
  • Plan and organise half-yearly outings for family bonding
  • Schedule home visits with children and their caregivers when necessary, including assessing their needs and strengths, and providing relevant support
  • Support in impact assessment to evaluate programme outcomes
  • Maintain administrative tasks, such as maintaining accurate mentor-mentee records, managing databases and handling relevant correspondence

Qualifications:

Experience and Competencies:

  • Preferably possess a Diploma/Degree in Social Work, Education, Early Childhood, or a related field
  • Relevant experience in the social service or education sector or grassroots/community work
  • Passion for children and families from vulnerable backgrounds
  • Strong team player, with good facilitation, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder and people management skills
  • Able to work on selected evenings and weekends (equivalent time-off will be granted)
