UWCSEA has a vacancy for August 2026 at its Dover Campus for Teacher of Infants School (Early Childhood, K1 to G1, Ages 4-7years).

Main Responsibilities

Expectations and Standards

Person Specifications

  • A degree in Primary Education from an accredited institution and a recognized teaching qualification or certification are essential.
  • Early years specific qualifications/specialisms, and/or experience working with a play-based curriculum are essential.
  • An interest and engagement with outdoor education, and an understanding of Service starting with the child and the environment.
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion is essential, alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of all learners.
  • An understanding of the place of play-based pedagogy in the classroom.
  • The following would be an advantage:
  • Experience teaching students who are English Language Learners
  • An understanding of Early Literacy and Mathematics, including phonics and small group direct instruction.
  • A desire to engage children in concept-based learning, where they develop big ideas both specific to subject areas and transcending them.
  • Experience in an international setting
  • An understanding of play-based practice, developing play-based learning environments (indoors and outdoors), documenting observations and progressing learning.
  • A committed and creative practitioner, you will be reflective on your own teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative practice to raise achievement.
  • A passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
  • Willing and eager to participate in the five key elements of a UWCSEA education: Academics;  Activities; Outdoor Education; Personal and Social Education and Service.
  • The College expects a significant contribution to Activities and/or Service.
  • The College expects that teachers will participate enthusiastically in the curricular Outdoor Education experiences which are relevant to their students and will also occasionally volunteer for holiday Outdoor Education trips.
