Job Description

Grab is integrating autonomous vehicle (AV) technology into its platform to enhance mobility and delivery services. We focus on ensuring safe, seamless, and efficient adoption of self-driving technology, adhering to top industry and regulatory standards across Southeast Asia. We seek a Senior Principal Autonomous Vehicle Safety Engineer to lead our AV safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define safety requirements aligned with ISO 26262, UL 4600, and regional regulations.
  • Lead evaluations, integrations, and validations of AV safety systems, including perception and control architectures.
  • Develop testing strategies, conduct risk assessments, and oversee safety validation.
  • Assess system designs and incorporate safety features per standards.
  • Design safety protocols for mixed-fleet interactions.
  • Implement safety metrics, conduct audits, and ensure compliance.
  • Engage with regulators and industry forums to align safety measures with regional and global standards.
  • Cultivate a safety culture through roadmaps and proactive risk management.
Qualifications

Required skills include a degree in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or related fields; over 10 years of experience in robotics, AV, or safety engineering; expertise in AV safety strategies; knowledge of perception technologies; leadership in safety initiatives; proficiency in safety analysis methodologies; familiarity with standards like ISO 26262 and UL 4600; and strong collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience with AV companies, OEMs, or mobility services; involvement with regulatory bodies; knowledge of global AV regulations; and familiarity with teleoperation safety protocols.
