We are seeking a skilled Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our client's in-house technology team. This role will play a key part in supporting and optimising their internal infrastructure, with a balance of operational support and project-based delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of their cloud and virtualised environments, while also driving forward continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, support, and optimise the internal Google Cloud environment, including Google Workspace.
  • Maintain and administer Linux-based systems ensuring performance, reliability, and security.
  • Support and manage VMware virtualisation infrastructure, including deployment, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in both day-to-day operational support and strategic project initiatives to improve infrastructure performance and capability.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery solutions across the environment.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, policies, and best practices across cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to support application deployments, infrastructure upgrades, and business projects.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, optimisation, and improved service delivery.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience as an Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Workspace administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux system administration (e.g., RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Experience with VMware environments (installation, configuration, optimisation, troubleshooting).
  • Good understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, firewalls, routing, VPNs).
  • Familiarity with scripting/automation (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell, or Terraform) is desirable.
  • Experience with backup solutions, monitoring tools, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
