Marie's Lapis Cafe is a cozy and vibrant eatery serving authentic Peranakan cuisine, from classic Nyonya rendangs to our signature layered lapis cakes. We're passionate about preserving the rich heritage and unique flavors of Peranakan culture, offering a warm and welcoming space for our customers to enjoy traditional home-cooked meals.

We're looking for a skilled and passionate Peranakan Cook to join our team. As a cook at Marie's Lapis Cafe, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of traditional Peranakan dishes. You'll play a key role in maintaining our high standards of quality and authenticity, ensuring every dish reflects the unique blend of Chinese and Malay flavors that define our cuisine.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook authentic Peranakan dishes, including main courses, side dishes, and soups, according to our established recipes and standards.
  • Manage daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, portioning, and inventory management.
  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented in a timely and visually appealing manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Assist with menu development and recipe testing as needed.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a cook, preferably with a focus on Peranakan or Southeast Asian cuisine.
  • A strong understanding of Peranakan ingredients, cooking techniques, and flavors.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for creating delicious food.
