Job Responsibilities:

  1. Marine Safety Management: Oversee vessel navigation safety, ensuring compliance with international conventions (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL, COLREG), flag state, and port state regulations.
  2. Navigation Monitoring & Guidance: Review voyage plans, monitor vessel movements, and provide route optimization and weather routing advice to mitigate operational risks.
  3. Emergency Response: Coordinate handling of marine incidents (e.g., collisions, groundings, pollution), conduct investigations, and implement preventive measures.
  4. Crew Training & Assessment: Organize training on navigation skills, safety awareness, and regulatory compliance; evaluate crew competency periodically.
  5. SMS Maintenance: Ensure effective implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS); participate in internal and external audits.
  6. PSC Preparation: Guide vessels in pre-inspection readiness for PSC/FSC to minimize deficiencies and detention risks.
  7. Technology Adoption: Promote and optimize the use of navigation technologies such as ECDIS and SEEMP for improved operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  1. Certification:

  2. Hold a valid Class 1 Master Mariner Certificate of Competency (COC).

  3. Proficient in the ISM Code, international maritime conventions, and industry standards.

  4. Experience:

  5. Minimum 2 years of experience as Master on ocean-going Oil and/or Chemical Tankers.

  6. At least 2 years of shore-based experience in a marine superintendent or equivalent management role.

  7. Skills:

  8. Strong knowledge of navigation, risk assessment, and emergency response procedures.

  9. Proficient in ECDIS and voyage monitoring software.
  10. Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to prepare professional reports.

  11. Soft Skills:

  12. Strong sense of responsibility, teamwork, and cross-departmental communication.
