Part-Time Primary School Language Teaching Assistant

UWCSEA East is searching for a Part-Time Primary School Language Teaching Assistant (Bilingual French) to join the team.
Reporting to the Primary School Leadership Team, the French Language Teaching Assistant (TA) will assist in delivering learning engagements within language lessons in the classroom environment and other settings, as directed by the teacher, in support of students' language learning. This will be a part-time position and the incumbent is expected to commit 15 hours per week.
Main ResponsibilitiesPre-lesson Support
- Collaborate with teachers to plan and implement learning engagements based on student progress
- Support students during break times as well as arrival and departure as required.
During Lesson Support
- Assist in delivering targeted support within the classroom environment and other settings to allocated students under the guidance of the teacher
- Communicate effectively with students and ensure that their learning is prioritised and supported fully and appropriately
- Work with a student individually or in a small group settings
- Use technology to support childrens' learning
- Engage in all aspects of student learning and curriculum, including programme delivery.
Documentation
- Monitor and document student learning, well being and behaviour in an effort to better meet students' needs and goals
- Observe the student and take anecdotal notes to inform planning of appropriate next steps
Supporting A Positive Learning Environment
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion, demonstrating a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners.
- Build positive, productive relationships with the students to support their engagement and learning, including building opportunities to draw on student interests and strengths within the learning programme
Other
- Maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of individual/family circumstances.
- Abide by the school's policies and practices, including the professional code of conduct.
- Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions within the school setting and on school business.
- Engage in, and complete all required safeguarding training and use relevant College systems.
- Use initiative to take on additional responsibilities as and when required.
- Any other administrative duties as assigned.
- Assist with any other duties, tasks or jobs with similar levels of responsibility and complexity to the assigned job grade as may be reasonably requested by the line manager and/or the College
- Spoken and/or written French would be an advantage but not necessary
- At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity with children aged years old
- Excellent English (written and spoken) communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in school settings and working with students is essential
- Must be passionate about working with children to positively impact their learning
- Able to work cohesively in a team-based environment as well as independently
- Must be flexible, willing and able to adapt and change at short notice in response to student and school needs
- Physically fit and able to work with students, including working on the floor with students, kneeling, supervising students up and down the stairs, outdoor duties, and accompanying students on outdoor activities, including off campus
- A willingness to learn and a commitment to ongoing professional learning is essential to keep up-to-date and continue to improve own practice
- Proficient with technology including Google platforms, Gmail and Google Calendar and a working knowledge of Mac
