- Job Purpose
- Onboard a Company or Chartered vessel, the Technician will report directly to the Technician Supervisor and/or the Chief Pipelay Engineer. The Technician, part of the Flexilay team, is responsible of the preservation and the corrective maintenance of the entire facilities which can include many equipment such as laying tower, reel drive systems, horizontal tensioner, winches, Spooling tower, carousel, etc.
The Technician is assigned work in priority with its primary technical field but can also be involved on various tasks/team works required to maintain the Flexilay department in good order as required, such as tensioner pads change, shifting reel drive systems, etc. The Technician will be responsible to provide when required accurate technical report, statement, perform parts inventory and keep records up to date.
The Technician will be responsible to operate the laying equipment as required and will be involved in a mandatory training program to become a certified equipment operator.
The Technician's work is directed by clear and detailed policies, procedures, systems and standard in place within the Company worksite.
- Job Description
Attend the required briefings, shift meetings, wash up meetings and shift handover defined by Project Management and the head of Department. Liaise with other Technicians, Technician Supervisor or CPE where appropriate regarding the status of equipment.
- Be competent to run the Maintenance software for the position held and the execution of the planned maintenance, under the Technician Supervisor supervision for all equipment within the defined timeframe by the CPE.
- Be competent to read and understand the technical drawings / schematics in line with your specific technical competencies to improve your comprehension of the systems you have in charge, to support the required technical investigation and to assist the team if any support is required.
- Be competent to undertake all the required energy isolations in line with your specific technical competencies in total compliance within the Company policies and worksite procedures in place.
- Ability to perform the required preventative and corrective maintenance of all the equipment as per the highest standard of quality, as per the manufacturer instructions and under the international regulations / specific company procedures in place.
- Ability to constantly achieve results within defined timeframes, and hold the drive to do things better and complete against standard of excellence.
- Identifying and keeping the spare parts inventory up to date as per the procedure defined within the Flexilay Department. Be competent to identify the required part(s) when required and answer the requisition process as defined by the Company procedures under Technician Supervisor supervision
- Maintain clear and up to dates records as per the documentation and standard in place within the Flexilay Department. Be competent to provide clear, in details and accurate technical statement and / or report in relation with your specific competencies. Ensure all potential or actual defects are clearly reported to the Technician Supervisor / CPE.
- During Project mobilisation / demobilisation the Technician is in charge of the required equipment isolation / de-isolation with total compliance with the Company policies and procedures in place to setup or demobilise the defined equipment as per the manufacturer procedures and as per the defined scope of work by the Technician Supervisor / CPE.
- The Technician shall become conversant and competent to operate the laying systems as required per the worksite organization. Operating laying tower such as VLS, PPS or TLS is a mandatory requirement for all the team members. A specific familiarization process and training program will take place aligned with the worksite equipment specifications. The training program will take place with a defined process supervised by Technician Supervisor under a timeframe defined by the CPE.
- Qualifications:
Appropriate electrical trade qualification (City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3, SVQ Level 3 or Equivalent) or sufficient industry experience to assure competence
