Technical Officer

Job Purpose
Railway infrastructure such as tracks, tunnels and viaducts are inspected and monitored routinely
to ensure safe use. Increasingly, the use of inspection technologies such as photo imaging
systems, laser and ultrasonic scan systems are used alongside more traditional track visual
inspections methods to determine the condition of the infrastructure.
Railway buildings and facilities are also equipped with smart environmental control, pump
monitoring, and lift control systems. These building conditioning monitoring systems could be OEM
proprietary systems or 3rd party solutions.
The job of the Technical Officer is to operate the condition monitoring system to acquire data and/or
retrieve the data from the condition monitoring systems for processing.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of Technical Officer, Condition Monitoring are as listed below. Note
that the list is not comprehensive and related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from
time to time.
Understand how to operate the condition monitoring system and retrieve the acquired data
for processing
Ensure work is done in accordance to Work Instructions and in compliance to SMRT safety
policies
Qualifications and Work Experience
Vocational qualification in the Mechanical / Mechatronic / Electrical Engineering field or equivalent
Skills and Competencies
Technical skills include:
Mechanical or Electrical vocational background
Prior knowledge of railway track and/or civil structure will be beneficial
