Job Description
A foreign wholesale bank is looking for candidates for the post of Assistant Manager in the Account Department. Successful candidate will :-
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Account, providing support for various accounting functions tasks, beyond Maker role.
- Serve as the Deputy when the Head is unavailable.
- Foster flexibility and readiness to take on more advanced responsibilities and leadership role when needed.
Responsibilities:
General Accounting tasks
- Supporting the Head of Account in formulating and implementing effective control to ensure proper maintenance of the bank's account system.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the integrity of accounting data through performing daily bank reconciliation, expense processing and checking of daily/month-end report.
- Ongoing monitoring of the bank's daily liquidity status such as Minimum Liquid Assets (MLA), and Asset Maintenance Ratio (AMR) to comply with MAS guidelines.
- Provide accurate and timely information relating to MAS regulatory reports such as MAS 610, MAS 649, Income & Expenditure, etc and Head Office's reporting.
- Compiling accurate tax information related to GST collected and paid by the bank and ensuring timely submission to the tax authority in Singapore for compliance purposes.
- Maintaining proper recording of fixed assets, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
- Preparation of data for monthly Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO) meeting, involving updating liquidity positions and other relevant financial data.
- Preparing data required for personal and corporate tax computation.
Other Accounting tasks
- Assist in preparing bank's annual budget, financial forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Assist in providing financial insights and analysis to support decision-making by the General Manager.
- Attend to queries from Head Office, internal/external auditors by providing accurate financial information.
- Perform and take ownership of additional financial tasks, analysis, or special projects assigned by the Head of Account or the General Manager to support the bank's operational needs.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting only
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, including at least 3 years in the banking or financial services industry
- Familiar with MAS reporting standards (e.g. MAS 610, MAS 649) and local financial compliance requirements
- Strong understanding of accounting GL, budgeting, variance analysis, financial control, and procurement processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/reporting systems
- Possess a strong "can-do" attitude, with high attention to detail and accountability
- Candidates holding professional accounting certificates (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CA Singapore) or with Big 4 audit firm experience will be given preference
Employment Type
3-year renewable contract, with strong potential for extension based on performance
Salary Range
SGD 7,000 – 10,000 per month, commensurate with qualifications and experience
