Marine Superintendent

Summary:

The Marine Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the safe and smooth operations of his or her assigned product tankers.

Reports to: Marine Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring safe and smooth operations of assigned product tankers
  • Managing vessel compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Arranging and managing audits, inspections required by the recognized organization (RO) –

       International Safety Management (ISM), International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS)   

       and Maritime Labour Convention (MLC).
  • Overseeing navigational matters and ensuring compliance with various requirements
  • Liaising with Flag State, Port State, and other stakeholders
  • Updating Q88 and HVPQ, and advising on regulatory changes
  • Supporting crew competency and discipline, and providing guidance to vessels
  • Participating in emergency response and contributing to projects and tasks as assigned

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Seagoing experience as a Master (at least CoC class 1 or 2), or at least 2 years of experience of shore experience in relation to safety, health and environment management and compliance for product or chemical tankers.
  • Familiarity with international and local maritime regulations
