Family Support Officer (Preschool Attendance Support)
Objective:
The objective of this role is to implement the Attendance Support Programme for Skool4Kidz (S4K) children from lower income families (B20ps and B10ps children) to improve the preschool attendance of these children so that they can benefit from our preschool programming.
Job Description:
To develop/set clear processes for identification/tracking of attendance and to work with preschool educators and HQ Operations to identify B20ps children who require attendance support.
Assist in the design, development and/or improvements of the Attendance Support Programme, including operations manual, templates, instruments, processes and related policies required to execute the programme.
To engage parents of identified B20ps children who require attendance support, via telephone, email or S4K's Parents mobile app to ascertain and assess reasons for irregular attendance (e.g. caregiving, child resistance, financial reasons etc.).
To plan and formula relevant attendance support intervention based on families' issues, as per framework, workflow and guidelines of the Attendance Support Programme.
To apply and deliver interventions, which could include, but not limited to:
Conduct home visits
- Referrals to other social agencies
- Parent training (e.g. help with child separation anxiety, sleep routines)
Engaging community network to help families with caregiving issues to send to school
To track and report the progress of the intervention and maintain and update case report, records and documentation for audit purposes.
To conduct regular programme review and evaluations to identify gaps for improvements
To collaborate with Learning Facilitators (LFs), Learning Support Educators (LSEds), Therapists, Educators, and other stakeholders to support identified B20ps child and family.
Serve as a point of contact between families and other professionals or agencies, such as social workers, health services, or counselling services, to ensure families receive appropriate support
Network with community agencies to foster collaborative partnership amongst the community, social and corporate partners
Work with Centre Operations team (Centre Leaders and/or Cluster Mentors) to provide parent training (e.g. help with child separation anxiety, sleep routines).
Any other duties assigned by reporting officers, including assignments or projects not related to the Attendance Support Programme, from time to time.
Required Qualification:
- Recognised Diploma in Social Service/ Social Work/ Diploma in Early Childhood/Psychology/Related Fields
- Candidates without the above but with experiences in customer service and/or sales are welcome to apply
- Minimum 3 years of working experience
Other Knowledge / Skills / Attributes:
- Good knowledge of community resources available to help children & families
- Experience in working with children would be advantageous
- Good interpersonal, communication skills (Verbal and written)
- Due to the nature of work, the candidate needs to be proficient in English language, both verbal and written and proficient in a second language (Chinese, Malay or Tamil)
- Able to multi-task, is resourceful, well-organised and meticulous
- Possess initiative and ability to work independently and yet be a good team player
- Have strong interest in developing and caring for children from vulnerable backgrounds and willing to work with their families
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
