DESIGNATION : Learning Support Officer (1-year Contract)

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Learning Support Officer (LSO) plays a vital role in supporting the curriculum and enhancing the overall learning experience for students with special needs. LSO works closely with teachers and other school personnel to facilitate effective learning, contribute to programme delivery, and ensure smooth operational support.

The LSO will assist teachers in the preparation, adaptation, and implementation of instructional materials across various learning domains. By supporting differentiated classroom activities, LSO helps cater to the diverse needs and learning profiles of students. In addition, the LSO will be involved in monitoring student progress and collecting evidence for assessments, including contributions to Integrated Curriculum activities.

In the area of co-curricular activities (CCA), the LSO will assist in the planning and running of sessions, ensuring that students are meaningfully engaged and supported throughout. The LSO will also coordinate the logistical aspects of CCAs, such as tracking attendance and preparing materials for both regular sessions and enrichment programmes.

A key part of the LSO's role involves resource development. The LSO will be responsible for curating, designing, and producing a wide range of teaching and learning materials, including visual aids, worksheets, and digital content tailored to the needs of the students. The LSO will also take on the filming, editing, and compilation of educational or event-related videos for use within the school. To support staff, the LSO will maintain a well-organised digital resource library.

Data collection and analysis is another important area of responsibility. The LSO will support the collection and organisation of student assessment data as well as behavioural observations. The LSO will assist in generating basic data reports, which will be used to inform curriculum reviews, Individualised Education Plan (IEP) discussions, and planning for behavioural interventions.

Lastly, the LSO will provide administrative and operational support for various school programmes, events, and curriculum projects. This includes liaising with the operations team to coordinate scheduling, venue arrangements, and preparation of necessary resources.
