What the role is
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Secretary (ES) to join the SPB. As the ES for SMC, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the President, Registrar, and Council members in executing the functions and duties under the relevant Act and Regulations administered by the SMC. As ES of a division in SPB, you will assist the Executive Director (ED) in providing shared services support to SMC and all the healthcare Professional Boards (PBs) in a timely manner. Your leadership will ensure SMC's and the PBs' compliance with all the requirements of public sector rules and regulations.
What you will be working on
• Oversee the smooth and effective operation of the secretariat and operational functions of SMC, and the PBs for those functions supported by your division.
• Foster collaboration with the parent ministry and other professional bodies for national and public interests.
• Review and develop policies and guidelines to support the SMC in the self-regulation of doctors.
• Assume the roles of Chief Records Officer and Chief Data Officer as mandated under the Government Instructions Manuals and the Public Sector Governance Act for SMC.
• Guide SPB officers in your division in supporting the PBs to carry out their regulatory functions effectively, ensuring the protection of public health and safety.
• Assist ED in reviewing policies and processes across all PBs and SMC, to ensure alignment under the prevailing Professional Acts and Regulations, public sector rules and guidelines.
What we are looking for
• Tertiary education.
• Proven experience in a leadership role within a regulatory or professional board setting.
• Strong understanding of public sector rules and regulations.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to drive alignment and sustainability across all Professional Boards.
