Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Reporting To: Lab Manager

Hours: Full Time & Shift Work

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

Lab Technicians are responsible for receiving, analysing recording and reporting their test results. He/ She provides all the required technical support to enable the laboratory to function effectively, while adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Perform analytical testing accurately and efficiently in accordance to established test methods.
  • Effectively and safely operate and maintain lab equipment. Carry out minor troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Record and maintain chemical and waste inventory.
  • Ensuring lab supplies and consumables are well-stocked.
  • Perform administrative work such as proper record keeping, data entry, COA generation, etc.
  • Receive and store raw material, production and retention samples in accordance with company policies.
  • Perform housekeeping to upkeep cleanliness of work station, apparatus and equipments.
  • Able to work shift and on-call duties.
  • Perform routine tasks according to SOPs in compliance with company HSE rules and quality policies.
  • Standardize reagent/equipment, prepare titration solvent and test solutions when necessary.

WORK SKILLS:

  • Good time management and multi-tasking skills in order to prioritize tasks according to urgency and be able to work on several test samples at the same time.
  • Excellent oral communication skills in order to work effectively with colleagues from all parts of the organisation.
  • Knowledge of chemical safety and HSE awareness.
  • Teamwork skills, discipline and independence.
  • Good record-keeping skills are required, along with ability to basic maths calculations and computing skills.
  • Ability to work with basic hand tools for maintenance of lab equipment.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Relevant laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Any previous experience, even if not science-related, will be advantageous if it helps in demonstrating some of the above skills.
  • Fresh graduates are welcome.

EDUCATION:

  • At least Nitec or Diploma in Chemical Process Technology/ Other Science related disciplines.
  • Above requirement may be waived in lieu of at least 3 or more years of work experience in a similar capacity.
