Divisional Director, Asia

Purpose of the Position:

Oversee and successfully lead the multi-site operations of the Asia division.  The role is responsible and accountable for all business results within their area of influence. This position reports to the Vice President for the Business Unit and is responsible for delivering and growing roughly $50m of business revenue across 4 in Southeast Asia. The Divisional Director will lead the region, focusing on financial performance, strategic planning and delivery, maintaining strong customer relationships, operational excellence and standardisation, the mentorship and development of managers and colleagues and the implementation of all programs and projects assigned to the incumbent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Full P&L accountability for the Built Environment Southeast Asia portfolio - $50m revenue, $12m EBITDA
  • Own the annual operational plan commitments including revenues, profit, productivity, quality, customer delivery, staffing, and other operational performance areas with a strong focus on accurate and timely forecasting
  • Prepare and submit accurate forecasts on a monthly basis, maintain acceptable levels of working capital, and determine and execute on corrective actions necessary to achieve plan goals.
  • Provide key contributions in the development and implementation of the Asia division and wider business unit strategies.
  • Maintain the leadership (technical and commercial) position and drive growth in the markets Asia and the wider Built Environment operate in through technology, innovation and commercial initiatives.
  • Drive standardisation of processes, procedures and behaviours to ensure that Element delivers to the market credibility, capacity and capability.
  • Responsible for demonstrating measurable increased operating efficiencies and economies that improve net income whilst enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for overseeing location support functions and systems including quality assurance, business improvement, safety and health, human resources, and customer service excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement with demonstrated results around an incident free and safe working environment for colleagues, high first-time right performance, and excellent internal and external audit performance
  • Develop and foster a positive culture at relevant laboratories, bringing Element's mission to life and leading in accordance with Element's values
  • Provide strong personal leadership, mentorship, and developmental opportunities for assigned locations and colleagues
  • Provide professional guidance, direction and developmental opportunities to location General Managers and other location leaders. In addition, provide direction and counselling to lab leaders that are underperforming or not meeting expectations-in their roles.
Line Management Responsibilities:

Manages the General Managers and, where no General Manager, Operations Managers within the assigned Asia division of the Built Environment business unit.

Qualifications:
  • Strong financial acumen, managing similar scale portfolio
  • Proven experience as an operational leader in the Asia region
  • A history of leading complex operational activities across multi-site/ multi-geography
  • Relevant experience in the construction industry or within Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC)
  • Ability to influence others towards action or a particular point of view.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally
  • An engaging leader who role models and leads by example. Can effectively manage a team with diversity of experience, background and culture, ensuring that they are supported, engaged and high performing.
