What the role is

What you will be working on

JOG coordinates Government responses to hybrid threats to Singapore. This includes conducting research, monitoring and sense-making of possible threats, carrying out reviews of legislation and other regulatory levers, developing operational plans and conducting exercises to ensure a high level of operational readiness with other Government agencies.

The job holder within the Policy team will co-ordinate and develop policies related to hybrid threats. This involves assessing the threats/risks, weighing the trade-offs of the different recommendations, and making final recommendations to senior management. The job holder will also assist in the team's international engagement mandate to obtain insights on other countries' strategies and drive legislative and policy reviews to ensure sufficient safeguards to address threats.

Job Requirements:

- Good grasp of the functions of the various Home Team Departments and heightened awareness of security issues. Experience in operational planning is a must.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills as a substantial part of the work lies in being able to engage and network with other agencies. Ability to prepare and deliver presentations for audiences, including those comprising senior public service leaders.

- Excellent writing skills with the ability to articulate strategic thinking as well as operational realities and constraints clearly and concisely.

- Resourceful, independent learner, thinker and driver. Takes initiative and works well with others.

- Keen appreciation of geo-strategic issue, and their impact on Singapore's sovereignty and security. A demonstrated interest in geopolitics and domestic security is desirable.

Note: This is a 12-month contract position with a possibility to extend for an additional year.
