Overview: The Head of Nursing Homes (HONH) will be responsible for overseeing the operations of three nursing homes, collectively serving approximately 600 residents. This role demands a highly organised and experienced professional who can ensure the delivery of high-quality care, compliance with regulatory standards, and efficient facility management. The HONH will work closely with the Group Director of Healthcare Services to implement strategic initiatives and maintain the highest standards of resident care and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily operations of three nursing homes to ensure smooth functioning.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards.
- Manage budgets, financial planning, and cost control measures.
- Conduct regular facility inspections and audits to ensure compliance and quality.
- Provides strategic direction to and works closely with the Deputy Head of Nursing Homes to execute operations across all three nursing homes. Delegates specific operational responsibilities to ensure timely execution, oversight, and continuity.
Resident Care:
- Ensure that all residents receive high-quality, person-centred care.
- Monitor and evaluate resident care plans, ensuring they meet the individual needs of residents.
- Address and resolve any resident or family concerns promptly and effectively.
- Promote a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.
Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, and manage nursing home staff, including administrative, nursing, and support staff.
- Implement staff development programs to ensure ongoing education and compliance with best practices.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Strategic Planning:
- Work with the Group Director of Healthcare Services to develop and execute strategic plans.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in service delivery.
- Develop and implement initiatives to enhance resident satisfaction and care outcomes.
- Implements and sustains leadership continuity measures across nursing homes, including the development of Deputy leadership capabilities and business continuity plans.
Quality Improvement:
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain high standards of care.
Community and Stakeholder Relations:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the nursing homes and external stakeholders, including families, healthcare providers, and regulatory bodies.
- Represent the nursing homes in community events and professional organisations.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
Qualifications, Competencies & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or related field. A Master's degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing multiple facilities.
