The Healthcare Assistant is primarily responsible for rendering patient care, performing simple treatments and routine duties

Responsibilities

  • To render basic care for patient
  • To make beds together with other grades of staff and cleans and makes up discharged patients' beds. To prepare companion beds at 8.30pm.
  • To bed bath all CRIB and Post-operative patients and take BD and 4 hourly TPR. Assists patients to toilet.
  • To assist in swabbings and attend to patients call bells.
  • To collect and send urine, stool and blood specimens to the laboratory. Send used instruments/dressing packs to CSSD for sterilization and collects them back
  • To attend to customer complaints (received verbally or through letters) expeditiously. Informs Nurse Manager / Staff Nurse in-charge about such complaints and carry out corrective or preventive actions in consultation with the Nurse Manager.
  • To bring out flower baskets from patients' rooms at 8.00pm and leave them outside the rooms.
  • To collect, sort and store supplies from Central Supplies Department.
  • To maintain cleanliness of all work areas.
  • To assist in keying daily orders into the Hospital Information System in the absence of the ward secretary.
  • To provide feedback to Nursing Manager about the purchase of products and services supplied by vendors to assist in vendor evaluations.
  • To assist in admitting new patients and order or cancel diets.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Secondary level or Equivalent
  • Able to read and write in simple English
  • At least 1 year of relevant hospital experience
  • Able to work staggered shift on a 6-day work week including weekends
