About You

We're looking to recruit a Commercial Finance Specialist (ASEAN) to support the ASEAN team's commercial performance. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Commercial Finance, based in Singapore.

Your role will provide business insights and recommendations, drive strategic transformation of the combined new organisation, business partner sales and other cross-functional teams, provide robust financial outlooks and process improvement initiatives, and contribute to business cases with recommendations for profit optimisation (including cost improvement projects)

What You'll Be Doing

Commercial Finance Business Partner

  • Ownership of commercial finance performance for the ASEAN cluster
  • Translate performance into clear insight and analysis for the Sub-Regional Sales leaders to leverage in driving the performance of the business.
  • Robust partner to the sales organisation and cross-functional partners to drive the strategic growth agenda
  • Work closely with Category Development & Planning, Technical Services and Commercial teams to drive focus on short and long-term performance
  • Finance lead in support of key customer negotiations and contract negotiations – pricing and cost mechanisms
  • Drive insightful and value-add reporting, provoking a detailed review of monthly performance with commercial leaders identifying risks and opportunities in support of the region delivering its stated targets for the year
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and drive through change in order to reduce inefficiencies within the business
  • Ensure financial forecasts appropriately reflect the outcome of the S&OP plan, pipeline and current initiatives (including pricing trends)
  • Lead interface with the sub-region AR / Collections team to drive cash flow improvements and mitigate write-off exposure
  • Leverage management information and draw on knowledge to deliver incremental performance of the sub-regions

FP&A - Forecasting, Budgets and 5 Year Plan and actuals

  • Understand and communicate drivers of performance vs budget, forecast and last year to the Regional Finance/FPA teams as well as Sub-region leaders
  • Support the continuous improvement of FP&A activity within the region in partnership with the regional Finance team
  • Lead delivery of all forecasts, budgets and 5YP processes in partnership with the relevant sales leaders (a mixture of VPs and Directors) for review and approval by the Regional leadership team.  
  • Responsible for the Financial outlook process, from driving discussion with sales leaders through to supporting the Regional Finance team on meeting preparation with Group FPA/CFO
  • Support the Regional Finance team in management reporting for the VP Finance and wider Region management team  
  • Interrogating the results of the business, liaise with key stakeholders to ensure that senior leaders (sub-region and regional) understand drivers of results, key trends and variances- driving action plans as a result
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and drive through change in order to reduce inefficiencies within the business
  • Support the implementation of the agreed SIP model and year end payouts for the region

Annual contracting

  • Own the critical annual contracting process, ensuring that the sub-region is on track to deliver the regional targets in partnership with Regional Finance
  • Challenge and drive sales and product management teams on annual volume and pricing targets ahead of the annual contracting round to ensure there is a clear plan to deliver the requisite sub-regional targets
  • Ensure the commercial organisation understands the cost drivers and headwinds, ahead of price setting.
  • Partner with the business to ensure the targets set are congruent with the strategic plan: Will volume and profit targets be delivered? Are the regional and product line strategies being executed? Will the investment case supporting any recent expansion plans be achieved?
  • Own weekly reporting and drive value-add review meetings with the Sub-Region management team/product managers on contracting.
  • Provide 'real-time' impact analysis on contracting results to date and ensure issues are quickly identified, resolved, and consequences quantified.

Others

  • Work closely with the Regional Commercial and FP&A teams and the Regional Controller to ensure a joined-up Region Finance team.
  • Work with procurement to assess and determine the impact on the company for respective sub-regions where relevant
  • Lead strategic deep dives for the sub-region, including customer cost to serve models, distributor vs direct decisions, and, where required, M&A activities. 
  • Constructively challenge the senior commercial leadership and their teams to support the profit delivery of the business.
  • Build strong working relationships with the Region leadership team and senior commercial management in order to ensure the business units' business plans are delivered and longer-term growth aspirations are within reach
  • Tenders/Quotes/Long-term contracts – focused on larger, more strategic files, support preparation and execution of tenders and quotes.

This role is assigned to our Singapore office located in Biopolis (Buona Vista MRT)

What You'll have

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; may hold a professional qualification at this level.
  • Possesses specialist knowledge of financial modelling, commercial planning and risk management—strong understanding of the policies, objectives, operations and related activities within the Sub-Region.
  • Strong communication skills to persuade and influence stakeholders. The role needs to adapt styles, interpret and explain information to different audiences inside and outside the organisation who are not familiar with the subject matter.
  • Resolve issues that are complex or unusual, requiring original thought, research, new approaches and analytical techniques.
  • Provide advice and guidance through technical knowledge, research and analysis within one's own discipline, which impacts the performance of the team.
  • Responsible for achieving personal targets, which can impact the overall success of the Sub-Region
  • May oversee project delivery, including managing project timelines, budgets and resources to ensure successful completion.
