Senior Software Architect, Big Data

To ensure the high system quality of each service and to increase engineers’ capability we are trying to seek full-time higher level Senior Software Architect to join our architect team. Moreover as one of the key strategic initiatives to achieve the challenging goal, our team is developing a radical marketing platform which enables our clients to fully utilize Rakuten data such as purchase behavior data and product, brand, genre data to accelerate customer’s marketing and branding activities.

In this position, the **Senior Software Architect on Horizontal Organization which called Tech Management Section**. We are looking for an experienced Software Architect to make intuitive high level decisions for software development. You will see the “big picture” and create architectural approaches for software design and implementation to guide the development team under the whole services group.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work on improving our marketing platform to make it more powerful, scalable and easy to use for business people
- Design and implement features evolving our online advertising and data management product offerings with metadata and user data
- Using tools and methodologies to create representations for functions and user interface of desired product
- Developing high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility
- Define all aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards
- Successfully communicate all concepts and guidelines to development team
- Oversee progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers through Architecture review and Tech support activities.
- Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.
- Review and approve final product before launch

**Required Skill and Knowledge**:

- At least 10+ years of experience in software development including solution or technical architecture experience
- Experience in software development and coding in various languages (Especially Java is must to have)
- Excellent knowledge of UML and other modeling methods
- Excellent knowledge of API design and implementation
- Understanding of software quality assurance principles
- A technical mindset with great attention to detail
- High quality organizational and leadership skills
- Outstanding communication and presentation abilities
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem solving ability
- Proactive self-starter with self-motivated mind
- Strong get-things-done mind with a sense of ownership

**Good to have, Skill and Knowledge**:

- Basic knowledge of digital marketing or advertising technologies - Ad serving, Ad tracking, DSP, SSP, DMP, Campaign Management, etc.;
- Experience with big data solutions and data pip-line and processing - Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Kafka, etc.
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JavaScript and UI/UX design
