Senior Laboratory Manager

Shiok Meats is seeking to hire Senior Laboratory Manager to join their Operations team to manage company’s purchasing activities, laboratory safety and management. This employee will work closely with the Senior Operations Manager and the research team to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory.

**Required background**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in microbiology, biomedical sciences, molecular biology, biological sciences, or other related disciplines is required.
- 3-5yrs experience in biological safety is a must, chemical safety knowledge is preferred.
- APBA Biosafety coordinator certification and other relevant safety certifications are required.

**Preferred experience**:

- 5+ years of working experience in a laboratory (Academic or industry research lab).
- Working knowledge of key local legislation guidelines (e.g., WSHA, NEA, and SCDF) is required.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate complex technical issues to diverse clients.
- Basic knowledge of emergency response program management.
- Proven expertise in laboratory-based risk assessments.
- Exceptional organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, policy and systems
- Knowledge of shipping practices such as import and export documentation, permit declaration and other relevant documents is a plus.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Maintain and provide day-to-day support for the operation of the R&D laboratories.
- First point of contact for the company’s staff on all Safety & Health matters.
- Maintaining records and compliance with legal requirements and enforcement of safety rules.
- Responsible for all purchasing activities which include planning, sourcing, contract negotiation, expediting purchases and delivery schedule for consumables and services.
- Ensure full compliance of procurement activities with company’s procurement policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing and other important data.
- Schedule shipments and logistic arrangements in the most efficient manner.
- Follow-up/expedite deliveries of purchased items to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other supply issues.
- Conduct regular laboratory inspections to identify and assess any unsafe conditions in the workplace and recommend practicable measures to remedy the work condition/practice.
- Conduct accident/incident reporting and investigation, and generate a report with corrective actions after root cause analysis.
- Review and update the company’s documents periodically (e.g., risk assessments, SOPs, policies, etc).
- Arrange audit schedule and conduct internal audits to prepare the company for R&D-related external inspection.
- Providing general laboratory safety orientation and instructions to new hires and research students.
- To liaise with external vendors for the preventive maintenance of equipment ensuring that the required schedules are adhered thus maintaining the equipment warranties and compliance for R&D laboratories.
- Managing Laboratory Assets and maintaining detailed documentation for R&D Laboratories.
