Information Technology Specialist

**Duties**:
This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Anywhere in the U.S. (remote job).
The primary purpose of this position is performing technical work across the DHS enterprise to address the Department's most complex and consequential information and technology challenges.
Duties performed:

- Serves as an IT Specialist providing expert knowledge for emerging technology, machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), project management and critical thinking skills.
- Serves as an expert for emerging technologies exploration by working with advanced hardware, software, and techniques to develop computational algorithms and statistical methods that find

patterns and relationships in large volumes of data and use AI techniques to include deep learning and machine learning.
- Identifies and evaluates new technology solutions for use throughout DHS.
- Creates documentation independently for emerging technology and AI models, algorithms, and research findings to facilitate knowledge transfer and future development.
- Works closely with fellow team members, agency stakeholders, and external partners to promote knowledge sharing and foster a culture of innovation in AI and other emerging technologies.

**Qualifications**:
**Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Minimum Qualification/Specialized Experience requirements as noted below.**

**Basic Requirement**:
(1) Attention to Detail - Diagnosing problems with artificial intelligence (AI) systems to recommend a solution;
- (2) Customer Service - Recommending and implementing changes to IT systems;
- (3) Oral Communication - Clearly communicating goals and expectations for IT projects; and
- (4) Problem Solving - Examining complex data to develop solutions to IT problems involving AI.

**Specialized Experience**:
**GS-14**: Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-13 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:

- 1) Creating, reviewing OR implementing emerging artificial intelligence (AI) technology policies and procedures to ensure alignment with organizational goals;
- 2) Developing documentation for emerging technology and AI models;
- 3) Working closely with team members, stakeholders, and partners to foster a culture of innovation in AI and other emerging technologies; and
- 4) Leading in deploying emerging AI technologies across an organization.
