**Primary Purpose of Role**
The Account Specialist - Facultative Broking role is part of the Asia Pacific (APAC) Reinsurance team supporting insurance companies to understand and manage their risks; navigating the landscape, delivering performance, achieving goals, protecting reputation, along with growing opportunities in the business landscape. The role is primarily focused on servicing Japanese Insurance clients’ facultative reinsurance needs across property, casualty and engineering line of businesses but with the opportunity to expand scope across the Asia region
**Key Accountabilities**
- Identify new facultative opportunities, maintaining, expanding, and developing client relationships including regular international business trips
- Understand client needs, working with the treaty and analytics teams to conduct portfolio optimisation studies
- Placing large and complex risks via Facultative reinsurance into the international reinsurance markets
- Support our clients and reinsurance /business partners in the pricing, structuring, negotiations, and execution of deals.
- Working closely with senior members of the team to support client management, prospection and placement process
- Up to speed with the evolving insurance/ reinsurance regulations
- Maintaining strong client and reinsurer relationships
- Negotiate renewals and amendments with reinsurers
- Prepare and present various reports to business partners
- Drafting of contracts
- Ability to leverage on the wider Gallagher teams to improve existing capabilities and client offerings.
**Requirements**:
- A university degree (preferably economics, law, or comparable education related, but others will be considered)
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience structuring and placing facultative covers for large and complex commercial & industrial accounts (experienced in Japanese cedants welcome)
- Team player
- High level of accuracy and attention to details
- A willingness to engage with a wide range of International clients and markets
- An awareness of the sales and negotiation process
- Good analytical and numerical skills
- Understanding of how the overall direction of the industry and foresight to understand how it is changing
- Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently
- Good skills in the MS Office programme suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Ability to communicate effectively in business level Japanese and English languages
