General Manager

Our client is a reputable player in the global shipping industry, and they are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead and grow their ship management operations. This is a strategic leadership position focused on technical management, operational excellence, client satisfaction, and digital transformation.

**Key Responsibilities**

**1. Strategic Planning & Business Development**
- Develop and implement medium
- to long-term strategies to expand the company’s core services, including technical ship management, crew management, and newbuild supervision
- Leverage oil major inspections as a gateway to elevate company standards in technology, compliance, and safety, aligning with international oil companies’ expectations
- Strengthen relationships with key clients through regular engagement, offering tailored ship management solutions and optimized crew deployment strategies
- Monitor industry developments such as green shipping initiatives and digital technologies, promoting smart, low-carbon operational transformation

**2. Safe Operations & Compliance Management**
- Ensure compliance with IMO regulations, international conventions (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL), ISO/ISM standards, and client-specific requirements in all technical operations
- Oversee vessel operations and interdepartmental coordination to achieve safety, schedule reliability, and cost control targets
- Enhance operational efficiency through cost optimization in areas such as fuel management and vessel maintenance
- Manage incidents, Port State Control inspections, and customer audits to maintain a track record of zero major non-conformities and uphold corporate reputation

**3. Team Development & Resource Integration**
- Build a performance-driven culture centered on safety, accountability, and collaboration; lead multidisciplinary teams across technical, marine, engineering, and crew functions
- Benchmark against global best practices to develop high-performance systems and processes
- Improve internal capability in areas such as vessel technology, digital management, and commercial negotiation
- Establish partnerships with external stakeholders (e.g., shipyards, ports, maritime authorities, insurers) to improve cost efficiency and support market expansion

**Job Requirements**

**Education**
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a maritime-related field such as Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, or Maritime Management
- MBA or EMBA would be an advantage

**Work Experience**
- Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience in the maritime sector, including at least 3 years in a senior executive position within a third-party ship management company
- Deep understanding of end-to-end ship management, including technical operations, crew management, and vessel performance
- Experience managing specialized vessels such as chemical tankers, oil tankers, and LNG carriers
- Familiarity with the operational standards and inspection criteria of major oil companies (e.g., Shell, BP), including frameworks such as TMSA and SIRE 2.0

**Core Competencies**
- Strategic thinking with the ability to drive global growth and navigate shipping market cycles
- Strong compliance knowledge, particularly with IMO, MLC, and maritime audit procedures
- Skilled in managing multicultural teams across regions such as Asia, Europe, and the Middle East
