**The Opportunity**:We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated **Sous Chef**to support the Head Chef in leading one of our vibrant kitchens within the revitalized 1939. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to take on significant leadership responsibilities, hone their skills, and contribute to the operational excellence and gastronomic success of a landmark venue.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Kitchen Supervision**:Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations for a specific concept, overseeing staff during shifts, and ensuring smooth workflow from prep to service.
- **Menu Execution**:Lead by example in the preparation and cooking of all menu items, ensuring consistent adherence to recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines set by the Head Chef and Executive Chef.
- **Quality & Consistency**:Maintain strict quality control for all ingredients and finished dishes, ensuring every plate leaving the kitchen meets 1939's high standards.
- **Team Leadership & Training**:Guide and mentor junior chefs, providing on-the-job training and fostering a positive and productive kitchen environment.
- **Inventory & Cost Control**:Assist with inventory management, stock rotation, ordering, and receiving, working to minimize waste and manage kitchen costs.
- **Hygiene & Safety**:Strictly enforce and adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (HACCP principles, SFA regulations) within the kitchen.
- **Operational Support**:Step in to manage the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring continued high performance.
- **Collaboration**:Maintain strong communication with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service delivery.
**Skills & Qualifications**:
- Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive culinary experience, with at least 1-2 years in a Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie role in a reputable restaurant or F&B establishment.
- Proven ability to supervise and motivate a kitchen team.
- Strong practical cooking skills and a comprehensive understanding of various cooking methods and ingredients.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations in Singapore.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., Diploma/Certificate from a recognized culinary institute) are preferred.
