[What the role is]

You will be part of a team that drives Singapore’s global status as a premier hub port. The Safety Analysis & Promotion team works closely with MPA’s senior management team and key leaders in the maritime industry to raise safety awareness and promote a safety-first culture.

You will devise and implement initiatives under the National Maritime Safety at Sea Council (an advisory body to MPA on maritime safety matters), and the MPA-Industry Safety Work Groups. As part of the mandate to enhance safety through the promotion of best practices and safety initiatives, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with relevant government and industry organisations.

You will also be responsible for workplace environment, safety and health issues for MPA staff and the people who work alongside us.

[What you will be working on]

You will work closely with the Deputy Director, (SAP) for this role. Areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to):

- Secretariat and support for the work of the National Maritime Safety at Sea Council (NMSSC) and other safety related work groups;
- Working with other MPA departments and relevant stakeholders (eg. Workplace Safety and Health Council) on planned and ad-hoc projects that arise pertaining to safety at sea;
- Analysis for safety at sea-related work, eg. marine incident statistics in the Port of Singapore - observations and trends
- Working on MPA’s workplace environment, health and safety (EHS) issues, alongside a cross-divisional committee. This would include the implementation of an open reporting system, analysis of the data and strengthening of SOPs for risk mitigation (e.g. development of audit plan and monitoring plan based on risk assessment and safe work procedures). You would review the existing risk assessment, implement new control measures or enhance existing control measures where necessary. Investigation of employees’ work-related incidents and organisation-wide initiatives to promote WSH would also be part of your duties.

[What we are looking for]
- Effective communicator and presenter, competent in both spoken and written English;
- Motivated, resourceful, analytical, meticulous and well-organised;
- Able to work independently as well as in a team;
- Able to multi-task and prioritise work accordingly;
- Enjoys marketing communications-related work; adept at handling projects, design and copytext work, organising events and managing stakeholders (especially those at a senior-level) both within and outside the organsation;
- Advantageous if you have relevant experience as a registered WSH officer, or experience in analytics-related work and presentation of reports with data-based insights;
