**Job Summary**:
The Development Merchandiser, based in Singapore, reports to the Sales & Merchandising Manager and plays a key role in overseeing product development from initial costing exercise to production. Responsibilities include liaising with the customers on their product requirements, sourcing materials, ensuring correct quality standards are met, managing costs, and coordinating with suppliers and manufacturers to deliver high-quality apparel on time.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct customer costing exercises to assess feasibility and pricing before initiating product development.
- Manage product development timelines, ensuring key milestones like fabric sourcing, sample approvals, and production deadlines are met.
- Work with the sourcing team to evaluate and procure quality, sustainable fabrics while negotiating costs with suppliers.
- Prepare cost sheets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure profitability without compromising quality.
- Oversee sample development with the production team, providing feedback on revisions and approving final samples for production.
- Liaise with suppliers, the sourcing team and production to monitor progress and ensure timely delivery.
- Align product development with customer requests, while maintaining organized records of specifications, costs, and approvals.
- Report progress to senior management, addressing potential delays or issues.

**Specifications/Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills)**:

- Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience in product development, sourcing, or merchandising.
- Preferred experience in product development or merchandising within the garment sector or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabric types, and fit; familiarity with product development software or design tools is a plus.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and prioritization skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Strong negotiation skills and cost management expertise.
- Detail-oriented, flexible, and proactive in solving development challenges.
- Ability to manage time effectively, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other relevant software.
