Software Design Engineer

Reporting to the Factory Automation Design Manager, SEA you will be responsible for providing expert knowledge in the development of control system design, graphic user interface and software configuration/programming in all aspects of customer solution projects for Factory Automation System.

Primarily, you will be performing software architecture, configuration and programming development work for customised solutions in order to achieve customer requirements depending on any of the components/brands. You will also be providing sales support to SEA customers/colleagues for both, systems and components levels.

**Other key responsibilities include**:

- Providing engineering and technical support to external customers, and internal customers (Festo Companies)
- Taking action to resolve operational problems related to Factory Automation Projects and minimise delays/cost
- Providing the control system overview, design solution and being involved in the presentation of the solution to the customer
- Liaising with other local as well as regional and international operations departments
- Coaching junior software engineers

**Engineering and Project Execution includes**:

- Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, control flowcharts, layouts, electrical diagrams, Programming matrix, source code comments and clear code.
- To develop programming follow sequence and control in different programming languages with different models/brands of components
- To design and develop the graphic user interface for HMI
- Experience in developing a workable, ease of operation, recoverable and robust control Source Code.
- To configure and tune the controller following the design setup on different models/brands of controller
- Creates production documentations including detailed electrical drawings, Part list, IO list, Testing/buy off criteria, costing and project documentation.
- Creates project documentation including ISO Documents, system overview, Operation manual and etc.
- Understand client’s requirements, identifying and addressing design parameters and engineering problems to ensure solutions are implemented.
- Internal and external communication for design sequence control/approval.
- Work independently on tasks assigned with minimum supervision.
- Program design follow timeline discussed/given by project manager on project schedule planning
- Perform IO check, Dry/Wet run, troubleshooting & testing of the new machine.
- Design cost monitoring with the expected quality within budget
- Perform on-site testing and commissioning
- Support production on series production projects on testing and troubleshooting.
- Responsible for UL audit and maintaining the qualification of built.
- Responsible for Transfer project setup and knowledge know-how. (if any)

**Projects Completion**
- Maintains accurate records and files according to Festo ISO quality standard
- System factory acceptance test with internal/external customers
- Provide operation training.

**Servicing**
- Commissioning of the Systems engineered by the Customer Solution team.
- Support local on-site team on commissioning after hand-over (for simple system).
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

**What skills and experience do you need for this role?**
- A Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
- Proficient in MS Office
- Proficient in Design Software - ePlan, Designer studio
- Experienced with Programming Software - CoDeSys, FAS, TwinCAT, Studio 5000 Logix designer, Simatic S7/TIA Portal, etc
- Programming language - Visual Basic, C++, Ladder, structured text, sequential flowchart
- Relevant experience in Factory Automation
- Fluent in business English
