The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced in September 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial services companies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time.
Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan’s leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead and oversee the Health services function to manage the Medical providers, namely: The doctors participating in our insurance program, hospitals, diagnostic laboratories that service our Retail and Group (employee benefits) customers.
- Lead and oversee the Medical advisory and clinical operation function to handle the pre-assessment (PAL) and medical claims cases that were escalated from the Retail and Group insurance for medical advice and follow up action.
- Oversee and initiate Cost management strategies and programs, with the Products, Operation (underwriting & claims), Risk/Compliance teams to optimize Singlife claims performance.
- Work with the Medical director & Product team to implement the various initiatives, such as the Patient support program, products development and regulatory oversight and changes to grow the business and achieve the expected underwriting results. Raise the company standing in the insurance industry, engage the customers in promoting our medical services, such as the panel of specialists and other patient support care, engage our distribution channels to bring in sales
- Accountable for the Retail & Group health business performance in profit/ loss and claims optimization matters.
- Assist in all other medical related matters, for life, health and GI products
**Key Decisions within the Role**:
- Lead claims management and medical claim cases handling and all other initiatives that relates to the health business performance.
- Accountable for the medical providers engagement, services performance and fees schedule negotiations.

**Requirements**:
- Demonstrated success and experience in handling team management, medical claims optimization and
- Demonstrated strong knowledge in medical field, through clinical or medical practices. Understanding of the restructured and private sector as well as TPA (third party administrators) are a plus
- Strong hunger to grow and demonstrate extreme ownership around projects, initiatives and teamwork.
- Demonstrated strong ability to communicate, navigate ambiguity and problem solve
Experience
- 7 - 15 years of relevant experience in medical practice, health insurance or clinical setting
- Strong understanding of insurance or the health space is encouraged but not mandatory.
Education
- Life and Health insurance professional qualification, namely: LOMA or Singapore college of insurance certification will be added value
- Other qualification in business or nursing degree can be bonus

- Partners: Hospital networks, medical doctors/providers, third-party administrators
- Customers: FA networks and policyholders
Internal:
- Product managers, claims/operations team, actuarial/finance team and other stakeholder team
