The role will report to the **Credit Team Lead, APAC** and operates in a balanced working model between home and our modern and centrally located Singapore office by Somerset station, with an excellent and a wide variety of services and transport links situated nearby.
Job Description
Lloyd’s List Intelligence is looking for a Credit Risk Graduate Analyst or Analyst (depending on experience) to join its expanding team. The Credit Risk position is an exciting role that forms part of the Risk and Compliance team at Lloyd’s List Intelligence, the global leaders in geo-spatial Big Data tracking and analysis of 80% of global trade on more than 400,000 ships.
Lloyd’s List Intelligence has an ambitious roadmap for the next three years including a programme of data analytics-based projects, which the Credit Risk team will be supporting on from a company risk analysis perspective. This position presents an exciting opportunity for a results-driven individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills, who is either a recent graduate or have 1-4 years' experience in company and financial analysis and reporting, aspiring to gain exposure and experience within the maritime sector. Maritime knowledge would be an advantage but much more important is a passion for company investigations and someone who can work well with continual change and a desire to exceed expectations.
Qualifications
**Responsibilities**
- Produce an agreed number of credit reports per month against volume and timeliness KPI, adhering to our data quality standard, COACT
- Research and analyse companies, shipping and financial markets as well as other relevant data and information to make confident and concise credit risk judgements while displaying knowledge and integrity, making estimates and projections of companies’ future financial performance
- Build and maintain a strong reference network of contacts with clients and marine suppliers in the industry, both on the phone and through networking events
- Extract key information from market contacts and maritime companies during your research process, and turn this into insight
- Respond to queries from customers efficiently and professionally
- Continually develop your understanding of the shipping industry to enable high quality writing on the profile of the company, which will include covering vessel types, chartering activity, cargo trade routes, bunkering, finance etc
- Keeping abreast of current market news and staying on top of latest developments related to the shipping and commodity/energy markets, sharing this with the team
**Skills and experience**
- Excellent written and verbal English writing skills, and required to be native/proficient in a second European language (preferably Mandarin, Japanese or Korean speakers although other languages will be considered); proficiency in multiple languages is a plus as the successful individual will be required to liaise with Mandarin, Japanese or Korean speaking clients
- Aptitude for financial analysis, due diligence and research is required, and experience in either the maritime, commodity and/or energy sectors is highly preferable
- Ability to work independently under clear deadlines to meet client orders, managing multiple reports at one time
- Good understanding of international sanctions and its impact on the shipping industry, including exposure to maritime trade and the risks associated
- Demonstrable analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative as well as demonstrate a proven understanding of analysing company financial data
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to persuade others
- A demonstrable understanding of analysing company financial data
- Experience of resolving complex customer queries is advantageous
