A Research Fellow position is available in the SP-NTU Joint Lab, School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
**Job Description**:
The Research Fellow will work on the project to conduct research on Degradation Studies and Modeling of Distribution Switchgear and Its Components. These include:
- Material and component degradation research- Modeling using COMSOL or other multi-physics platform- Validation testing and post-mortem work
The scope of work includes the following:
- Conduct literature survey and taxonomy on MV (22kV & 6.6kV) switchgear components- Survey on, reach out to, and to engage external expert consultant/s from overseas institution of higher learning (IHL)/ specialist consultant to supplement MV switchgear degradation research know how and operation experience/ failure database- Establish the research framework, approach and methodology, equipment for degradation testing and software modeling outcome- Conduct material degradation study, including testing, characterization, modeling, validation verification testing, and reporting. Report also includes recommended technical specification improvement to enhance reliability and service life- Conduct components degradation study, including testing, characterization, modeling, and validation testing and reporting. Report also includes recommendation on technical specification improvement to enhance reliability and service life- Study the maintenance and renewal aspects and way forward on this research, and to wrap up the findings of the research
Job Requirements:
- PhD in material science or high voltage engineering with degradation study experience or related field- Post PhD in material science or high voltage engineering with degradation study experience and preferably with electricity utility experience, for material and component degradation research- Post PhD in material science or high voltage engineering with modeling software background, for modeling using COMSOL or other multi-physics platform- Post PhD in high voltage engineering with high voltage equipment testing experience, preferably with electricity utility experience, for validation testing and post-mortem work- Modeling software background such as COMSOL or other multi-physics platform- High voltage equipment testing and electricity utility experience is an advantage- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience- Able to work independently and as part of a team to realize the project objectives- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English- Publication track record is an advantage
