**Job Scope**:This role supports the Group ALM Lead and Group Chief Investment Officer (CIO), local business investment and actuarial functions including responsibility for devising strategies around the use of derivatives and assets to better meet liability profile. This will include helping Insurance Business Units on improving the management of derivative overlays and formulate the use of derivative strategies to better manage the key exposures within the insurance funds. The individual would also help Business Units on constructing liability driven investment (LDI) strategies to better meet certain liability needs. The individual will drive the implementation of derivatives & LDI strategies to enhance risk adjusted returns on the insurance portfolios, propose benchmarks and tools to measures the effectiveness of these strategies and actively work closely with asset manager to integrate these strategies into the portfolio management process.
Ø **Principal Accountabilities**:Proactively support the business units, the Group CIO and the Group ALM lead, in respect of driving derivatives overlay and LDI strategies. Key activities include:
Ø **Hedging and LDI programs**:analyse and propose to Group ALM and Business Units to improve the design and implementation of the liability hedging programs. Continuously identify and suggest interesting developments in derivative markets and LDI ideas to improve the overall risk and return outcomes.
Ø **Derivatives execution strategies**:analyse and propose to Group ALM and Business Units strategies to better meet liabilities profiles and enhance asset manager execution in driving for best-in-class execution approaches.
Ø **Efficient use of capital**:analyse and propose to Group ALM and Business Units the use of derivatives and LDI strategies in improving the risk adjusted returns of the SAAs with efficient use of regulatory and economic capital.
Ø **Collaboration with asset manager**: work closely with the asset manager to integrate these derivatives and LDI strategies to improve risk-returns optimisation of the SAA implementation process.
Ø **Framework and policies**: collaborate with Group ALM - SAA team, Develop and enhance existing framework and policies on governance, monitoring, measurement, risk management on integration of derivatives and LDI strategies into the overall investment strategies of Business Units.
Ø **Tools development**: work with Group ALM - SAA team, develop tools for monitoring and assessing derivative markets.
Ø **Infrastructure development**: work closely with asset managers and Business Units on driving ISDA, CSA and documentation negotiation, including setting up processes on management and controls of collateral usage, posting and drive the set-up of infrastructure support needed to ensure smooth operation of the derivatives overlay and LDI (if applicable) strategies.
**Core Competences Required:
- Experience managing a hedging book for a large asset owner.
- Show deep understanding of derivative pricing models and nuances. Knowledge of downstream effects and economic impact of the different types of derivatives.
- Knowledge of trade communication, settlements, term sheets, index methodologies and other derivative operational issues.
- Show ability to disaggregate complex trading strategies and model them to understand how they work in different market outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build effective relationships and liaise and communicate effectively with stakeholders including senior leader across different specialisms.
- Able to work independently with a proactive mindset in challenging existing process
- Ability to work collaboratively and support business units and fund manager whilst also challenging in their approaches, analysis, proposals and practices.
- Ability to work under pressure, flexibly deal with workloads, priorities and deadlines
- Strong quantitative and analytics skills, including the ability to understand concepts and assess situations in a timely manner.
- Team player who resolves problems through a consultative, analytical approach.
**Job Requirements:
- At least 12 - 15 years working experience in the financial services industry in a similar role, with experience in derivatives and liability driven investment management.
