**Role Summary**

The main purpose of a Shipbroker is to act as a specialist intermediary/ negotiator between shipowners and charterers to arrange ocean transport of goods and commodities by sea, the employment of a vessel or to buy/ sell ships on behalf of a client. We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented, experienced Shipbroker to join our Dry Cargo team in our Singapore office. We seek exceptional communication skills, a strong work ethic and a high degree of integrity.

**What you will be doing**
- Instigate, arrange and negotiate deals, including relationship building to develop business
- Daily contact with Owners and Charterers
- Maintain a database of daily market activities and keep track of vessel positions
- Negotiate charters to achieve optimum results for customers
- Provide market insight and trade ideas to clients
- Develop new and existing clients
- Maintain databases and prepare market information and reports for clients
- Maintain internal data flow of key market information

**What we are looking for**

**Key Attributes**
- At least 3 years’ experience working as a Shipbroker on the Handymax desk of a global shipbroking firm
- A good university degree majoring in Maritime Studies, Business or Commerce
- International work experience in alternative countries/ markets
- An in-depth knowledge of the Dry Cargo market
- **Fluency in Japanese and the ability to service our Japanese clients is essential**:

- **Strong experience with Japanese operators**:

- An excellent command of English
- Able to build strong working relationships with Dry Cargo clients
- Good commercial judgement with excellent negotiation skills
- Driven, self-motivated and client focused
- Strong numeracy and presentation skills
- Strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy
- Strong MS office skills in Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word

**Special Job Requirements**
- Able to travel, as required.
