DESIGNATION : Manager/Senior Manager (3-year contract), Centre for Teaching Excellence

RESPONSIBILITIES

This headcount is responsible for ensuring that the university has a reliable and trusted system to measure effectiveness of teaching at the postgraduate (PG) level. He/she will also provide support in the design and implementation of training programmes for PG faculty, as well as manage the process of rewarding faculty for excellence in teaching PG programmes. The significance of this job is to ensure and assure stakeholders of the quality of PG education in SMU, and maintain its strong position as a provider of transformative teaching and learning experiences.

**_ Responsibilities:_**
- As the key contact for postgraduate (PG) course feedback matters, coordinate with PG stakeholders and administrative colleagues to ensure smooth operation of the feedback process
- Conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative analyses to investigate PG course feedback trends, produce regular stakeholder reports and ad-hoc analyses as requested by senior management
- Pending stakeholders’ needs, provide thought leadership and design in course feedback questions and reports
- Review the PG course feedback process and system functions, make recommendations for enhancement and work with the IT team and Programme Managers to ensure accuracy of implementation
- Manage the teaching excellence award process for PG programmes
- Act as repository for, and steward of, PG teaching policies and guidelines
- Support the creation of a variety of resources on teaching and learning for PG faculty
- Work in close collaboration with key partners and stakeholders such as Programme Directors, Programme Managers, faculty members, and administrative colleagues to execute the above
- Manage timelines, budgets and deliverables for above-mentioned programmes with assistance from administrative colleagues
- Provide consultations with faculty (including classroom observations) to help them improve and innovate in their teaching
- Conduct educational research and contribute to CTE’s evidenced-based recommendations for teaching and learning
- Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years relevant working experience in higher education
- Postgraduate qualification preferred
- Recent postgraduates with strong statistical knowledge are welcome to apply
- Strong statistical knowledge, ability to transform raw data to actionable insights, ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative findings to make recommendations
- Proficient in using relevant statistical software (such as SPSS, R, Python)
- Strong knowledge in pedagogy approaches, best practices and issues related to student feedback on teaching in higher education
- Experience in curriculum planning, design and implementation preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues, assess constraints and weigh options
- Strong adaptability to challenges and ability to propose alternate solutions for continual improvement
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills to deal effectively with senior management, schools, offices, faculty and students
- Excellent organisational skills and meticulous with a sharp eye for details
- Excellent team player, and ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Excellent time management and ability to multi-task
- Excellent communication skills with a good command of both oral and written English
